Donegal clubs are expected to give their backing to the County Board tabling a motion to the GAA’s annual congress asking that counties are not allowed to nominated Croke Park as a ‘home’ venue for the Super 8s.
This year, Dublin defeated Donegal in the first of the ‘Super 8’ games at Croke Park.
Dublin also had a ‘home’ fixture at Croke Park against Roscommon as well as the supposed neutral game against Donegal – which Donegal spoke out against at the time.
Donegal strongly opposed the arrangement this year.
The Central Competitions Controls Committee (CCCC) has put a document around the counties and lists a round of games as ‘a Croke Park round’.
Donegal County Board Chairman Mick McGrath has called for a ‘level playing field’.
A motion is on the agenda for tomorrow night’s Donegal GAA Convention.
It reads: “Counties who qualify for the Football Inter County Quarter Final Group Stage shall not be permitted to nominate Croke Park as their Home Venue.”
If, as expected, the motion is passed, Donegal will submit it to Congress, which takes place in February in Wexford.
