John Gallagher, the young victim of the Barnesmore Gap car crash, was due to be Best Man at his brother’s wedding tomorrow.

Instead, his family are gathering in mourning as he is laid to rest today in Killybegs.

Mr Gallagher, aged 27, died on Monday night when his car collided with a vacant house on the N15 between Donegal Town and Ballybofey.

The Killybegs community was stunned by the tragic events and has united in mourning over John’s death.

John’s brother Martin was due to get married this Friday, in a week which should have been a joyous time for the family.

John was to be Martin’s Best Man, but in a tragic turn of events, the family will be holding his funeral mass this morning. The wedding has been put on hold.

Removal takes place this Thursday morning at 10.30am to St. Mary’s Church, Killybegs for 11am Funeral Mass. Burial afterwards in the local cemetery.
