Widened path is a runner at Letterkenny Town Park

The widening of the path at Letterkenny Town Park has been completed and is set to be enjoyed by runners and walkers alike.

The park, next to the grounds of St Conals, is the setting for the weekly community park run.

Cllr. Jimmy Kavanagh has said he is delighted by the work.

He said he would like to thank town gardener David Donnelly and his team for getting this work completed and for making such a great job of it.

He said “The narrow path was causing problems for the Letterkenny Park run organisers and participants as it was causing a bottleneck with runners meeting walkers and slowing the runners-up, this now solves the problem.

“The park run has been getting more and more popular and attracts a big crowd most Saturday mornings, recently the organisers have been getting different work groups in the town to participate, and it is also good for the town that there is a park run available for the many visitors who come to Letterkenny at the weekends.

“I’d like to thank the organisers for raising this issue with me and I am happy that the event can now be even better with the improved path. I’d like also to thank Cllr. Gerry McMonagle for seconding my motion at council to get this work done.”
