People planning Christmas outings this weekend are being warned to take care as a severe weather system approaches Ireland.
Met Eireann has issued an alert for heavy rain and winds on Saturday 15th December.
The ‘potential for severe weather’ has led to a Status Yellow warning for the entire country. “Hazardous conditions may result from heavy rain, and possibly wind also,” forecasters said.
“A deepening area of low pressure is expected to track near Ireland on Saturday bringing heavy rain and the potential for a period very strong winds. Exact details regarding this weather system remain uncertain so please keep up to date with the forecast.”
Friday is expected to be wet also, with ‘persistent rain’ due in the North West by the afternoon and strong to gusty winds at the coast.
