Whoriskey’s Christmas spectacle shines a light on two charities

Michael and Mary Whoriskey’s Christmas Lights are once again shining brightly on the hills of Kerrykeel.

Each year, the kind couple transform their home into a twinkling festive wonderland to fundraise for charity.

Their garden, driveway and house become the North Pole with illuminated Santa Clauses, reindeer, snowmen, a crib, bells, stars and many more decorations.

Even Santa himself turned up for the switch-on the 23rd of November! The event attracted large crowds of people who enjoyed carols and festive treats before the big countdown.

Now that the lights are in action, everyone is welcome to come and walk through the display and Santa’s grotto, which becomes more impressive as the years go by.  The spectacle is lit every evening from 6pm and a little earlier at weekends.

Visitors who come to see the display are invited to leave a donation to charity.

Over the last 13 years, big-hearted Michael and Mary have donated over €50,000 to various charities.

This year, the proceeds raised are in aid of Irish Kidney Association and SVDP Social Centre Rathmullan.

Those wishing to donate can do so at the donation box situated at the lifesize crib, and also via the link on the Facebook page: Whoriskey Christmas Lights Kerrykeel.
