The Ivy Bridge in Cloghan has been reopened to traffic today after the completion of essential repairs.

Cllr Patrick McGowan, Chair of the Stranorlar Municipal District, welcomed the reopening of the route at lunchtime today (Thursday).

Cllr McGowan highlighted the importance of having the link road open to local people and businesses before Christmas and the New Year.

He commented: “Great praise goes to Joe McMenamin & Sons Ltd Ballybofey in getting the collapsed parapet wall rebuilt in record time and the quality of the finish is exceptional.

“Also a big thank you to John Mc Laughlin and his team in Donegal County Council for getting this work turned around in such a short period of time.

“Santa has been informed as well that he is safe to cross with a full load,” Cllr Mc Gowan added.
