Some very different sounds emanated from the Raphoe Mart this week when Christmas carolling replaced the noises of livestock!

For the first time ever, the community hosted a Christmas event of seasonal songs and poems on Tuesday 18th December.

The venue was the mart sale ring and the choir was made up from mart staff, committee and the local community.

The over 30-strong choir was conducted by Mart Manager, Anne Harkin and accompanied by Danielle Harkin, Piano, Austin Quinn, Guitar and Russell Tinney, Drums.

Danielle Harkin performed a wonderful solo of Silent Night and local children read poems and sang seasonal songs to make a  fantastic evening of entertainment.

€840 was raised for Raphoe Senior Citizens on the day.

The mart canteen provided refreshments after the event and Santa Claus made a surprise appearance, to the delight of all the children.
