Gardaí in Donegal are investigating after a gang of ‘boy racers’ blocked off a road for diffing on Christmas Day.
The incident occurred at the Glenswilly junction between Churchill and Letterkenny on Tuesday evening.
Approximately 15-20 cars were used to create an obstruction for the illegal racing activities to take place.
Gardaí reported having slower than normal response times to other emergencies due to officers have to deal with the nuisance.
The activities concerned locals and left one terrified elderly lady in tears, according to the authorities.
One of the ‘boy racers’ fled the scene when approached by an unmarked Garda car.
The suspect, who was driving an Omega car, lost a shoe while running through the fields. Gardaí in Milford have called on the driver to contact the station.

The incident prompted Gardaí to issue a statement warning parents to monitor their children’s activities: “Christmas Day is meant to be full of joy and peace but unfortunately Gardai in Donegal got no peace yesterday as resources were stretched throughout the day due to idiotic boy racer activity. This means slower response times when we were needed elsewhere.
“It’s time mums and dads out there stepped up and asked where their little Johnny (or Jenny) is going to when he/she rolls out the driveway in their rear wheel drive rust bucket!”
