She may be used to shopping in some of the most exclusive boutiques in the world.

But Hollywood A-lister Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick showed their ordinary side as they mixed with shoppers in Killybegs on Christmas Eve.

The celebrity couple and their children jetted into Ireland to spend the festive season at their newly-renovated cottage in Kilcar.

This is the first time they have returned to Ireland from their home in New York after their holiday getaway underwent a massive makeover.

The couple employed a firm of Dublin architects to turn the once humble cottage into a luxury holiday home.

Sarah and Matthew delighted staff at the local Supervalu in Killybegs by stocking up on last-minute essentials including all their food shopping.

Cashier Pauline Reynolds said the couple were very friendly.

“They were so nice to talk to, lovely people,” she said.

Another shopper Samantha McBrearty said she spotted SJP in Donegal Town on Thursday last going into the Elvery’s Sports Store.

The couple regularly visit Donegal where Broderick’s parents bought a home overlooking Donegal Bay more than 40 years ago.

However, this is thought to be the first time the couple have chosen to spend Christmas in Ireland.

It is not known if the couple will welcome in 2019 in Donegal or jet home to New York.
