Brett McGinty leads the charge of Donegal boxers heading for the 2019 Ulster Elite Championships, the draw for which takes place on Sunday.

McGinty lost out to Monkstown’s Aidan Walsh in the welterweight final at the Ulster Hall last time around.

Oakleaf ABC’s McGinty has since stepped up to middleweight and the St Johnston puncher – who has been to two Irish Elite finals in the last two years – will aim to go one better this year.

The O’Neill Arms in Toome will host the weigh-in and the draw for these Championships on Sunday.

The Ulster Elites glove off on Monday at the Dockers Club in Belfast, with semi-finals next Thursday night.

The Ulster Elite finals will be held on January 19th at the Ulster Hall and will be televised by BBC.

The likes of Donna Barr, Caroline Gallagher and Cathal Brown from Illies Golden Gloves are also expected to take to the scales on Sunday at noon.
