Donegal All-Star Ryan McHugh to make competitive return this week

Ryan McHugh will line out for Ulster University in the Dr McKenna Cup in his first competitive outing since suffering a concussion in August.

McHugh featured in a challenge game between the Donegal 2019 squad and a Donegal 2012 Select in Downings at the end of December in what was his first game since the injury.

The All-Star was sidelined after shipping a heavy blow to the head during a challenge game between Kilcar and St Vincent’s.

It was his second concussion injury of 2018 having suffered a similar blow during Donegal’s Allianz League campaign.

McHugh took no part in Kilcar’s Donegal SFC campaign, but is now poised for a competitive return – which will be a major boost, too, for Donegal manager Declan Bonner ahead of the first League outing against Clare at the end of January.
