Glencolmcille native Frank Boyle has witnessed his two sons sworn in to elected office in America again.

Brendan Boyle has taken up a fourth year as a Democratic Congressman in the US House of Representatives.

Kevin J Boyle was sworn in to represent Northeast Philadelphia and Montgomery County in the House of Representatives.

Frank Boyle left Glencolmcille in 1970, but remains firmly in touch with his roots.

The Boyles are the only two brothers to serve simultaneously in the chamber’s 300-year history.

Brendan Boyle Tweeted: “Dad immigrated to America when he was 19. Spent the next 50 years working in a warehouse and as a custodian. This week he attended the swearing-in ceremonies of both of his sons. Both @RepKevinBoyle and I know we wouldn’t be where we are without his hard work & sacrifice.
