The survivor of a tragic car crash in Donegal that left two young people dead “cried hard” when she revisited the scene of the accident for the first time.

Young mum Rachel Elliott was left unable to walk after the horror crash in Bundoran in August last year.

Two of her friends who were in the car, Conall McAleer, 20, and Shiva Devine, 20 died in the collision.

Rachel, 25, survived the crash but lost the use of her legs, and sustained serious injuries to her brain, back and pelvis.

Brothers Conor Brennan, aged 26, and Tristan Brennan, aged 19, were also in the car and suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Now Rachel’s mother Susan has revealed that the 25-year-old revisited the scene of the incident for the first time last week.

Susan wrote on social media: “She went down to where the accident happened (on Tuesday).

“That’s the first time. Then she went to see her friends’ graves.

“Lord, she cried hard. Not really coping.

“Poor pet has a lot to contend with but hopefully there will be a breakthrough and in time she will walk again.

“It may take time but you have to be positive.”
