Local county councillor John Campbell has resigned from his position on Donegal County Council.
The Mountcharles-based Independent councillor handed in his resignation papers at county house in Lifford this morning.
It follows a decision taken by Mr Campbell after much consideration over the Christmas period.
His resignation will now lead to a situation whereby a new councillor will be co-opted onto the council.
