Hooded vandal attacks Go Safe speed van in Raphoe

Gardai are investigating a vandalism attack on a Go Safe speed van in Co Donegal.

The van was parked up at the Derry Road in Raphoe on Tuesday night last when it was targeted by a lone hooded attacker.

The van was operating a speed check at the time of the attack.

The vandal spray-painted the van with graffiti before running off.

Gardai have not confirmed what message was sprayed in the van.

The operator of the van was not attacked and reported the matter immediately to Gardai.

Gardai have confirmed they are studying CCTV footage of the attack in a bid to possibly identify the attacker.

A spokesman for the Garda Press office confirmed to Donegal Daily “Gardaí in Raphoe are investigating an incident of criminal damage that occurred on the Derry Road, Raphoe, Tuesday the 8th of January 2019 at approximately 12am a Go Safe van was vandalised.

“No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.”
