A ground search operation in Milford by Gardaí for a woman who went missing in Moville 10 years ago has ended with nothing found.

The latest search for Deirdre O’Flaherty was sparked following information given to Gardaí by a member of the public.

O’Flaherty was reported missing on the 11th January 2009 at Moville.

The search was carried out by members of the Donegal Divisional Search Team and Garda Technical Bureau along with private contractors and was expected to last as long as 5 days.

However, Gardaí, who carried out a land search and excavation in the Milford District, has confirmed this afternoon that nothing was located during the search.

In a statement, Gardaí said: “Unfortunately nothing that furthers the search for Deirdre was located during the search. The site is on private property and remains closed to the public.

“Today, is also the 10th anniversary of the disappearance of Deirdre and our thoughts are with her family and friends and it is requested that the privacy of her family is respected at this time.

“Gardaí have renewed their appeal for anyone who may have information in relation to Deirdre’s disappearance to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 0749320540 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111.”
