A dozen new champions were crowned in the ring at the 2019 Donegal Open Championships yesterday.
Letterkenny ABC played host to the Championships, which drew an entry of 72 boxers, 58 male and 14 female.

The entries came from nine Donegal clubs, two from Derry, one from Tyrone, one from Fermanagh and one from Leitrim.
Twelve finals were boxed on the day and the winners out of those bouts were: Lani Lafferty (Twin Towns), Shania McCloskey (Carndonagh), Adam McDaid (St Bridget’s), Danny Duffy (Immaculata), Rory McGlinchey (Raphoe), Thomas Ward (Raphoe), Kyle McGonagle (St Bridget’s), Cahir Donaghey (St Bridget’s), Aaron McDaid (Raphoe), Liam McMonagle (Raphoe), Mickey Dineean (Rochesters) and Evan O’Donnell (Sean McDermotts).
There were also a number of walkover wins.
Two finals have been held over and will take place on Tuesday night at Letterkenny ABC.
In the Boy 2 38.5kgs final, Dunree’s Matthew Carlin will take on Dunfanaghy’s Peadar Coyle.
At Boy 4 60kgs, Cian McGonagle from St Bridget’s will face Dean Doherty of Carndonagh.
Ulster High Performance
Meanwhile, four Donegal boxers have been selected to train with the Ulster High Performance squad in Jordanstown. Raphoe duo Liam McMonagle and Eoin McGarrell will be joined in training by Daniel Campbell (St Bridget’s) and Ryan Ward-Mulrine (Convoy).
