The Donegal GAA community is in shock following the death of Danny O’Donnell, the Chairman of the Termon GAA club.

Danny (pictured above by Geraldine Diver) passed away this evening at Letterkenny University Hospital following a short illness.

‘Danny O’ was a proud and passionate supporter of his beloved Termon and was a familiar face for all visitors to the Burn Road.

Danny was instrumental in the ongoing development of the Burn Road.

Club members, family and other members of the community had held a nightly Rosary at Doon Well over the last week as Danny battled.

This evening, however, he slipped away.

“CLG an Tearmann  wish to announce, with the heaviest of hearts, the sad passing of our Cathaoirleach, Danny O’Donnell after a short illness,” a statement from CLG an Tearmann read.

“Ár dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

“Danny is predeceased by his wife Mary and his brother Fr. John. He is survived by daughter, Jennifer, son-in-law and grand children, his brother, Jimmy, his sisters Anna, Margaret, Mary and Rose, his nieces and nephews and the wilder GAA family.”

Funeral arrangements have not been announced.
