The people of Buncrana and further afield are in deep mourning this week over the loss of one of the area’s most loved citizens – Kieran Henderson.

The young Inishowen man, formerly of 6 Lisowen Avenue, passed away on Tuesday 15th January. Large crowds are expected to gather to say a final farewell at his funeral Mass today.

Kieran was the driving force behind the Amazing Grace Initiative in Buncrana and a past employee of Inishowen Tourism. More recently, he was a valued employee of CloudRanger in Letterkenny.

Above all, he was a loving husband and dedicated father of three.

Kieran’s quiet nature, his passion and vision for developing Buncrana as a tourist destination have been widely celebrated.

In a touching tribute, the Buncrana Chamber of Commerce wrote: “This week Buncrana has lost one of its silent heroes. An unassuming gentleman, a go getter who got things done, but more importantly a family man who will be sorely missed by many.”

Funeral Mass to be held at 11am, Thursday 17th January in St Mary’s Church, Cockhill, with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
