Almost €100,000 is being paid out by the Government to support 28 social enterprises groups in Donegal.

Minister Joe McHugh announced the funding on Friday granted under the Community Services Programme.

Among the highest to benefit from the funding is Finn Valley AC and White Oaks Acorn Project Company, who will receive €8,800 and €7,700 respectfully.

Minister McHugh said: “This funding of almost €100,000 will do wonders in helping to support community groups and organisations to provide local social, economic and environmental services.

“Some 28 groups, which operate social enterprise, will benefit from this backing from Government under the Community Services programme. The money is targeted to support the work of groups providing services and supports in some disadvantaged communities.”

The funding has been sanctioned through the Department of Community and Rural Development.

Minister McHugh said: “We see groups benefitting all the way from Malin Head and Greencastle, over to Milford, the Finn Valley to Rann na Feirste in the Gaeltacht and in the south of the county in Inver and Donegal Town.  This is all thanks to efforts to help the long-term unemployed, social isolation and other people who need our support.”

“I hope the work of the organisations being supported here and these valuable grants will help to continue to address disadvantage and employment issues.”
