Donegal Mountain Rescue volunteers successfully rescued a tourist in difficulty on Sliabh Liag yesterday (Thursday).

The alarm was raised when a walker contacted the emergency services for help on the south Donegal cliffs.

Gardaí requested the assistance of the Donegal Mountain Rescue team, who are specially skilled in search and rescue operations on rough terrain.

The team was quickly deployed to the region. The tourist was soon located and brought to safety by 4.40pm.
