YVONNE BONNER WAS a goalscorer for Greater Western Sydney Giants today in her first official practice match since taking up a pro deal in Australia.

The Glenfin native, who also won three Ulster SFC titles with Donegal in the last four seasons, is gearing up for her first stint with the AFLW (Australian Football League Women’s) club. She was recently featured on the club’s official website.

Greater Western Sydney Giants were emphatic winners over Brisbane Lions today, with 31-year-old Bonner, on the mark in the third term in the 75-28 win.

Aimee Schmidt and Mayo’s Cora Staunton, who was with the club last season, both scored hat-tricks  of goals in the pre-season victory.

The AFLW season gets underway for the Giants with a home fixture against Essendon on Sunday, March 24.

Yvonne Bonner wow. Might have an even greater impact than Staunton did in 2018.
