A new workshop series is beginning in Carndonagh this February for children with Dyspraxia/DCD or motor coordination difficulties.

The Fun Moves programme, to be held on Wednesday evenings in St. Patrick’s Girls School Carndonagh, will involve six weeks of affordable group sessions in which children practice movement skills under the guidance of qualified professionals.

Classes are tailored to suit children aged 6-12 years with a primary diagnosis of Dyspraxia or who are waiting for a diagnosis of Dyspraxia.

Dyspraxia is a Developmental Coordination Disorder affecting motor coordination in children and adults.

FUN Moves aims to help children with a disability to develop their fundamental movement skills in a fun safe environment.

The workshops will focus on the development of fundamental movement skills such as; throwing, catching, jumping, striking, running, kicking, agility, balance and coordination.

The programme will be run by the Donegal Dyspraxia DCD Support Group, Dyspraxia Ireland, and is supported by Donegal Sports Partnership.

Booking is strongly advised to ensure there are enough numbers to run the programme: www.eventbrite.ie/e/fun-moves-carndonagh…

Here, Donegal Dyspraxia Support Group founder Alison Doherty invites families to register for the programme:

“This event can only take place if we have the numbers to run it,” Alison said.

For more information visit the Donegal Dyspraxia Support Group‎‎ Facebook page.

The next Donegal Dyspraxia Support Group‎‎ meeting takes place on Thursday, 31st January 2019 in the Colgan Hall Carndonagh. Parents, teachers, SNAs and educators are all welcome to attend and learn more about Dyspraxia.
