Donegal’s Machaire Rabhartaigh village is set to feature in TG4 documentary series ‘Bailte’ this week.

The programme, which airs on Wednesday, will discover the strong seafaring past of the west Donegal Gaeltacht community.

Presenter Síle Nic Chonaonaigh will be meeting people from the local school, rowing club and other groups to investigate the strong connections people have with their native places, through the culture, the ways of life, and the landscape.

There are roughly 100 houses in Machaire Rabhartaigh (aka Magheroarty), with a population of over 200 inhabitants. Seaside life influences a lot of the residents’ day to day activities, as ‘Machaire’ strand stretches for three miles out from the coast.

Machair Rabhartaigh features on Bailte at 8.30pm on Wednesday 23rd of January on TG4. If you miss it on Thursday catch it on Saturday 7.25pm or worldwide on the TG4 player www.tg4.ie/player
