Donegal County Council gritters are to be deployed on all major road routes in Donegal from 5pm this Monday evening.
Temperatures are expected to fall below freezing tonight as forecasters warn of a risk of frost under clear skies.
Showers in northern counties may fall as sleet or snow on higher ground, according to Met Eireann.
A Status Yellow snow-ice warning takes effect from 6am Tuesday morning as a five day cold snap grips Ireland. Sleet, snow, frost and ice are forecast at various times from Tuesday to Saturday, with freezing conditions expected to bring lows of -5C on Wednesday.
Donegal County Council has advised motorists that the following routes will be gritted from 5pm on Monday 28th January:

- 02: National Primary Central
- 03: National Primary South
- 07: Milford South
- 08: Milford North
- 09: Cill Ulta East
- 10: Cill Ulta West
- 11: Na Rosa
- 12: Binswilly
- 13: Stranorlar North
- 14: Stranorlar East
- 15: Stranorlar West
- 16: Donegal West
- 17: Donegal North
- 18: Donegal South
- 19: Donegal National Secondary
- 05: Inishowen East
- BT: Buncrana Town Council Priority 1
