There is widespread disruption across the county tonight for motorists due to heavy snow and ice.

Plummeting temperatures are causing hazardous driving condition on a number of roads across Donegal.

It is understood that motorists are in difficulty between the De Valera Road and Letterkenny University Hospital, while there are local reports of cars struggling to climb the hill at Upper Glencar towards Ard na Rí.

Cars are also believed to be stuck near Bridgend in Ramelton, while roads surrounding Milford and Cresslough are also said to be areas of high-risk.

People are advised to take care in the region.

A Status Yellow snow-ice warning is in place until 12pm on Saturday 2nd February. Further snow and widespread forecast are forecast for Tuesday night, with a risk of ice on untreated surfaces.
