Motorists in Letterkenny are facing icy conditions tonight as temperatures drop below freezing.

There are local reports of cars struggling to climb the hill at Upper Glencar towards Ard na Rí.

A number of cars have been abandoned on the hill towards Soloman’s housing estates.

People are advised to take care in the region.

A Status Yellow snow-ice warning is in place until 12pm on Saturday 2nd February. Further snow and widespread forecast are forecast for Tuesday night, with a risk of ice on untreated surfaces.
