Snow joke: Gardai warn motorists not to boil kettles or leave cars running

Donegal Gardai have issued a warning to motorists to take some practical precautions with widespread snow across the county today.

A spokesman said “It’s time for the usual update to tell you all something that you already know, roads across the county are treacherous so please exercise caution while travelling.”

They have issued a list of dos and don’ts.

* Clearing the snow off the car this morning was fun, imagine Bambi on Ice but with Peppa Pig as the main character! 🙈

* Please ensure you remove as much snow from your vehicle before setting off, especially all windows.

* Don’t start your car and run back into the warmth of indoors to allow your car to warm up, you don’t know who is watching.

* Do not boil the kettle and pour it over the car to remove ice! Remove the snow first and use tepid water, you’d be surprised!

* Ensure a safe distance from the vehicle on front while travelling, stopping time in these conditions is greatly increased.

* Minimise braking and accelerating on hills.

If possible, stay at home!!

Please drive safely.
