Man with 21 convictions found driving while disqualified

January 31, 2019

A 44-year-old Donegal man with 21 previous convictions has been charged with driving while disqualified.

On September 16, 2016 at 5.37pm, Garda O’Dowd was off duty, driving his own car, at Ballybuninadden, Termon, when he observed a blue Renault Laguna estate being driven by Pawel Bladek, whom he knew to be disqualified from driving.

On September 22, 2016, a demand was made for Bladek, of 8 Mount Pleasant, Letterkenny, to produce his licence and insurance or to nominate a Garda Station at which to produce his documents.

The Court heard that Bladek refused to nominate a station and ‘closed the door in the Garda’s face’.

Bladek has 21 previous convictions, all for road traffic offences, has been disqualified for a total of 28 years and has previously been sentenced to Castlerea Prison.

Bladek did not appear before Letterkenny District Court and Judge Paul Kelly issued a bench warrant for his arrest.
