Listen: Shane Byrne on Glengad United’s big Junior Cup clash in Carlow

Shane Byrne is expecting a tough test of Glengad United’s FAI Junior Cup credentials tomorrow when the Inishowen League champions face Crettyard United in Carlow (12.30pm).

Glengad are bidding to reach the quarter-finals of the Junior Cup and make their way south today ahead of the big game.

“There won’t be an easy draw when you get to the last 16,” Byrne told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“They didn’t win their own League last year, but they won it the previous year and Carlow won the Oscar Traynor last season. They’ll be a good side.”

Glengad lost out to rivals Greencastle at Chapel Lane in October, but have been in good form since, scoring 16 goals and conceding just one in their last four outings.

Byrne said: “Since Greencastle beat us in the League in early October, we haven’t lost a game. We’re going well.

“The boys have experienced big games before. We’ll be ready.”

There is a doubt over the fitness of Michael Byrne while Paddy McDermott will be unavailable through work commitments.
