‘Green man’ to leave Dunfanaghy – but they’ll be back!

One of Donegal’ most popular food shops is to close its doors next week.

The Green Man speciality food and ingredient store on Dunfanghy’s main street has announced the move.

The owners announced that it is with sadness that they will be taking a
break from running the business and therefore they will close the shop
while they return to the UK for a period of time.

However, they added that they intend to return to Dunfanaghy in the future and “rejuvenate” Green Man shop.

They have urged anyone with gift vouchers for the shop to call in and use them before they close and begin their break on Saturday, February 16th next.

The Tirconail Tribune reports that the family-run business has been a fixture of the town’s main street since it opened in 2006 and the owner’s, Neil Hougardy and Eileen Gallagher, said they would also like to thank everyone for their support in that time.

They posted a message on their Facebook page detailing: “After much deliberation and with some sadness, Neil & I have decided to take a break and return to the UK. The Shop will be closed while we’re away.

“On our return to Dunfanaghy, we will rejuvenate The Green Man. Thank you all for your loyal support since 2006!”

They specialized in stocking local and imported food that were not readily available in the locality.
