An own goal midway through the second half at Lissywollen saw Harps come away with a draw, six days before they go to Dalymount Park to face Bohemians in their Premier Division opener.

Ollie Horgan’s side took the lead when Nathan Boyle finished after being teed up by Raffaele Cretaro.

Kealan Dillon drew Athlone level when he beat Peter Burke, the Harps goalkeeper, from a free kick.

Caolan McAleer, Cretaro and Mikey Place all had chances for Harps, but it was all square, 1-1, at the break.

Dean Williams struck to put Athlone in front, but a scramble and an own goal saw Harps equalise 20 minutes from the end.
