Listen: Noel Ward hails Coláiste na Carraige spirit after Markey loss

Noel Ward watched his Coláiste na Carraige side make a good fist of climbing a mountain yesterday – but they fell just short of toppling St Columb’s College.

A spirited Coláiste na Carraige – who fell 1-4 to no score behind after just nine minutes – rallied in the second half to briefly take the lead before losing 1-16 to 3-7.

“We had a mountain to climb,” Ward told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub.

“We gave away 1-2 from bad passes and we created the mountain.”

Pauric Love’s goal brought Coláiste na Carraige back from the brink, while Ryan McShane and Eoin Cormack goaled to raise the hopes even further, only for St Columb’s to close out well.

Ward said: “We had a superb second half and got a bit of light at the end of the tunnel. We just couldn’t win primary possession in the middle of the field.”
