David Crawford, James McKean and James Robb were selected as Elders and a Commission of the Derry and Donegal Presbytery ordained and installed them at a special service on Sunday night.
It was thirty years since the congregation last had elected Elders and the large attendance at this auspicious service reflected the magnitude of the responsibility the position holds together with the respect for those chosen and their church.
Rev. Graeme Orr told the newly ordained and installed Elders in Ballylennon that ‘the ancient Greeks said Presbyters, the Presbyterian Church in Ireland says Ruling Elders’.
Rev. Paul Linkens, Moderator of Presbytery, ordained and installed the new members of Kirk Session with the Minister of Ballylennon and St. Johnston Rev. Craig Wilson delivering the charge to the Elders and the congregation.
The gathering was invited to a reception in the church hall where old friendships were renewed and new friendships forged over a delectable supper with Ballylennon.
