Market Square to become a no-go area for large vehicles

Large vehicles are to be prohibited, by way of signage, from traveling down Letterkenny’s Market Square.

An issue with busses finding difficulty in navigating from Market Square onto Main Street was highlighted at the monthly Letterkenny Municipal District meeting.

“A bus load of tourists, who were staying in a local hotel, were venturing down the Market Square and found it very difficult to turn down,” Councillor Jimmy Kavanagh said.

“I am just asking that we erect adequate signage.”

In a response to a motion from Councillor Kavanagh, the Council said: “Roads will review, with a view to erecting appropriate advisory signage.”
