A busy Letterkenny road is ‘crocodiling’ and in urgent need of repairs, a County Councillor has said.

Sinn Féin Councillor Gerry McMonagle highlighted the state of the road surface at Lower Ard O’Donnell at this month’s Letterkenny Municipal District meeting.

“The road surface is crocodiling and it’s a very busy road,” Councillor McMonagle said.

“A lot of busses use the road because of the schools. I wouldn’t like to see it deteriorate further.

“The frost recently really showed up the problem. It’s only happening in 20-metre patches, but fissures and cracks are appearing.”

Councillor Adrian Glackin said the road was showing signs of ‘wear and tear’.

A response from the Council said: “The 2019 Restoration Improvement programme was recently agreed by members at workshop and subsequently in MDL meeting. Roads continue to implement minor repairs and will maintain on the list for potential inclusion in the 2020 programme.”
