Legendary Donegal GAA manager Brian McEniff was honoured last night at a Night with Donegal GAA Greats banquet.
The 1992 All-Ireland winning manager – who also guided Donegal to five Ulster titles – was honoured at the sold-out function in the Mount Errigal Hotel, Letterkenny.
“It’s a huge honour,” McEniff told Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub as he reflected on a stories career.
“I’ve got an awful lot of honours through the GAA and Donegal in particular. It’s the greatest of all, to be recognised by your own.”
Of all his achievements and accolades, it will always be September 20, 1992 that stands out for the Bundoran man – the day Donegal toppled Dublin to win their first All-Ireland.
McEniff said: “In ’92, we had our heart and mind set on it, no doubt about it. We had played all the top teams and we had beaten all the top teams. It was a matter of putting ourselves together. They were a super set of players.”
