Ashleigh McArdle became the latest Lifford Strabane AC athlete to medal at the Scottish National Indoor Championships when producing an outstanding performance to win the Scottish u13 Combined Events Championships in Glasgow on Saturday.

McArdle delivered three new personal best performances in the Long Jump (4.60m), the Shot Putt (7.95m) and the 800m (2 mins 34 seconds) on her way to victory as well as dominating the 60m Hurdles whuch she won in 10.05 seconds.

In her favoured event, the High Jump, the young Lifford Strabane AC starlet leaped to 1.44m and in the process, amassed a total of 2728 points over the 5 event competition to take victory by almost 400 points from her nearest rival, R Jones from Edinburgh AC.

McArdle’s success in Scotland comes on the back of Lifford Strabane AC’s Adrienne Gallen’s medal in the u15 Shot Putt at the Scottish Indoor Championships just two weeks ago.

Indeed Gallen was in Tullamore, Co. Offaly on Saturday night collecting the Athletics Ireland National Star Award for 2018 in recognition of her achievements at the National Juvenile Championships where she took national titles in both Hammer and Shot Putt.

Earlier on Saturday at the National Senior Indoor Championships in Dublin, Lifford Strabane ACs Alan McGinley produced a great run in Heat 2 of the Mens 1500m to qualify for Sunday’s 1500m Final in a time of 4 mins 01 seconds.

Meanwhile, High Jumper, Shannon Craig produced a jump of 1.60m to take 5th place in the Senior Women’s High Jump at the Indoor Championships on Saturday afternoon.
