Letterkenny company Gartan Technologies has decided to sever ties with its US partner due to a lack of traction in the market.
The company made a significant investment in the United States in 2017/2018 to expand its business there, which has not produced the expected growth forecast.
As a result, the company will restructure its business and reduce the workforce.
The company is conducting a consultation process with their staff.
The aim is to retain 70% of their Letterkenny workforce whilst continuing to concentrate on key markets in the UK, Ireland and Australia.
Speaking about the decision, Malachi Eastwood CEO, Gartan Technologies commented, “We endeavoured to expand our specialised products to emergency services in UK, Ireland, Australia and more recently in the US.
“Unfortunately, we did not see the same growth in the US as in other markets, we’ve entered. This has meant that we need to reduce the size of the company but it will mean that we can move forward confidently to service our existing clients in UK, Ireland and Australia.”
He added, “it has been a tremendously difficult decision because we have a great team here in Letterkenny and we will always be indebted to them for their help and support over the years.”
Gartan Technologies specialises in workplace management software for the emergency services and has built a strong reputation in the UK, Ireland and Australia.
The company started out with 3 people and has grown substantially over the last 18 years.
