The finals of Donegal’s Fastest Child 2019 will take place on Tuesday evening next, February 26th.

Qualification trials have been held throughout the county in recent months with thousands of children involved.

Now, the finals evening will be held at the Finn Valley Centre on Tuesday at 5pm.

“It continues to be an exciting project each year,” Finn Valley AC said.

“Finn Valley AC have been pro-active now for just short of 50 years in leading the development of primary school athletics in the Donegal /West Tyrone border area.

“Currently, through their own resources, we commit three coach development officers to support and connect with the schools, which is really well received.

“Tuesday is the first event of 2019 in a programme that embraces sportshall, little athletics/active play, track/field and cross country, Daily Mile events.

The scope of this event extended to include both u10s – born 2010/2011  – and u12s – born 2008/ 2009.

“This was a most enjoyable fun event in 2018, with a great atmosphere on the night with parents, family and teachers present in the Finn Valley Hall.

“The distance is 30m using speed gates courtesy of Speer Performance.”

Looking further ahead the other athletics annual dates for 2019 which school principals may wish to mark on school calendar are track/field finals May 22nd and cross country September 24th.
