On Saturday-week, a Gaelic football match will be held in Swinford to honour the tenth anniversary of the death of Garda Robbie Callion.

The Donegal Garda GAA team will play Swinford GAA at the Robert McCallion Memorial Park in Swinford on Saturday, March 9, at 2pm.

Garda McCallion died on April 7, 2009 as a result of injuries sustained while on duty in Letterkenny on March 26, 2009.

Robbie represented Swinford at all levels and turned out for Mayo at under-21 and senior levels.

Regularly, he made the 340km commute from Letterkenny to Swinford for training and matches.

After the game, presentations will take place at the Gateway Hotel, Swinford
