It’s Sam Ver-done as player leaves Finn Harps after just one game

Sam Verdon has left Finn Harps and returned to Longford Town.

Verdon, a closed-season signing from Longford, was one of Ollie Horgan’s first signings after Harps won promotion to the Premier Division.

Verdon started the opening game of the season, playing 81 minutes of the 1-0 loss to Bohemians at Dalymount Park. He was replaced by Tony McNamee for the closing stages of that game, which proved to be his first and last in Harps’ colours.

Although the transfer window has closed, Verdon has been permitted to return to Longford with his contract at Harps having been cancelled.

In a brief statement on the club website, Longfod Town said: “Longford Town FC are delighted to announce that Sam Verdon has re-joined the club!

“Sam was a fan favourite and a key player in the squad last season before joining Finn Harps for a short period before returning the Red and Black!”

In an interview with extratime.ie, Verdon said he had left for ‘personal reasons’.
