Over one hundred people from across Inishowen gathered in An Grianan Hotel in Burt on Wednesday evening last, to receive a wide range of awards from Donegal ETB’s Further Education and Training (FET) Service.

Donegal ETB presented certificates to over one hundred adult learners who had achieved certification in a range of part-time programmes over the last year.

Many of these learners completed their ICT, Communications and Horticulture courses in the Buncrana Further Education and Training (FET) Centre and GAA Club and in community centres in Carndonagh, Drumfries, Greencastle, Malin Head and other parts of Inishowen.

All of these courses were co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Social Fund as part of the ESF Programme for Employability, Inclusion and Learning (PEIL) 2014-2020.

Presenting the awards, Donegal ETB Chairperson, Cllr Martin Harley, said: “I would like to congratulate each and every one of the learners here tonight on their achievements and acknowledge the work of Donegal ETB’s FET Service whose courses are designed to meet the needs of the local community.”

In 2018, almost 11,000 learners completed courses in more than 120 venues across the county, making Donegal ETB the largest FET provider in the county.

Donegal ETB’s Chief Executive Anne McHugh and Director of FET, Cróna Gallagher, both congratulated the learners. Gallagher added: “It’s fantastic to see so many learners receiving awards here this evening.

“They have put so much work into getting their certification and I’m delighted to be able to share in their achievements.

“The certification they have received will now open up many more progression options to them within further education and training or the world of work.”

Its wide range of courses can be found on the course finder section of its website (www.donegaletb.ie/coursefinder).
