Donegal U16’s ran riot in their one-sided clash against Fermanagh in the under 16 Buncrana Cup at Pairc Aodh Rua in Ballyshannon Donegal 8-13 Fermanagh 0-3 Luke Barrett’s side recorded an energetic first half as they took an impressive 15 point lead in at the break. Eight scores between Blake McGarvey, Coalan McClintock, Christopher Mulligan, Drew McKinney, and Oran Patterson gave Donegal what would’ve been a comfortable lead in itself. However, in a blistering fashion, Donegal showed plenty of quality and they added three goals to their tally. After two minutes, Mulligan finished off a slick move to give Donegal their first goal of the game, while McClintock and McGarvey kicked beyond Ross Bogue minutes later. It took until the 27th minute for Fermanagh to get their first points on the board, as Jack McCann and Coalan Quaile restored some sense of normality to the match. After the interval, Donegal’s utter superiority didn’t waver as they scored a further 20 points: five goals and five points. After 38 minutes, two points from David Boyle set Donegal on their way towards a dominating victory. Three further goals were then added before the midway point of the second half. Cian McEntee, Caolan McClintock and Drew McKinney all made sure the ball found the netting before David Boyle added another superb point from open play. Fermanagh did manage to add a score, their only one of the half, through an Ethan Curren free-kick. Barnett’s outfit were trying to outdo their U17 counterparts by blowing Fermanagh out of the water and they dealt their final barrage in the final ten minutes. A David Boyle goal was followed by a double score by standout McClintock, while late substitute Cian Rooney added the final score to round off an impressive performance for Donegal.
