Residents, community members, voluntary groups and business owners based in the Finn Valley have been urged to get involved on a new public park and recreational facilities for the Twin Towns.
The plans being proposed by Donegal County Council to develop the new facilities and Councillor Liam Doherty is backing the council’s plans.
The councillors comments come following the announcement this week that the local authority are now accepting written submissions from members of the public as part of a public consultation into the plans.
Councillor Doherty said: “I am happy to learn that Donegal County Council has this week announced that it is now welcoming written submissions from the public regarding its plans to develop a new public park, recreational facilities and a multi-purpose all-weather pitch at Drumboe.
“As part of the proposed development, the Council plan to construct a number of local amenities and facilities including a landscaped green space and sensory garden, an outdoor gym and soft play area, as well as a 3G all-weather flood light playing pitch,” he added.
“I understand that the plans will also see the construction of a multi-use building which will house on-site changing rooms, public toilets, as well as an indoor multi-purpose room and office.
“In addition, the upgrading and widening of the local roadway is also included as part of these proposals which is deemed necessary to improve both vehicle and pedestrian access to the site.
“While additional amenities and recreational facilities can be a fantastic and welcome addition to any town, it’s vital that they receive the support and approval of local residents, community groups and business owners before they are approved because they will be the people who ultimately will be affected.
“I, therefore, am urging them to let their views be heard and to have their say on these ambitious proposals being planned at Drumboe and the Twin Towns.
