One of Donegal’s most well-known school book and stationery stores will enter its final chapter with a large closing down sale, beginning this week’s.
Sprint Educational Supplies is a shop which many children and adults fondly remember as the place where they would stock up on school books, pens, paper, arts and crafts.
Located in Donegal Town and Letterkenny, the stores have had a loyal customer base since the company was first formed by the late Tom Gallagher three decades ago.
The closure of Sprint Educational Supplies was first announced to school principals last week.
In a statement, company director Angela Gilligan said the decision to close was made ‘with deep regret’, adding:
“As you would have been aware that my husband Tom Gallagher founded the company over thirty years ago and he was the main driving force behind it. lndeed, he was our front man and would have personally known all his customers. Unfortunately following his untimely death in 2017 it has not been feasible for us his family to continue to give the heavy commitment required to continue trading. To this end we have taken the difficult decision to close the business.”
Yesterday marked the end of an era as the two Sprint outlets begin closing down sales.
Everything must go, with 50% off stationery, arts and crafts, learning resources, toys and games.
There is 15% off school books and revision books. Plus, there is 25% off ink cartridges.
This sale, on a cash and carry only basis, will continue at Spring Market Centre Letterkenny and Sprint Glebe Shopping Centre Donegal Town until all stock is gone.
