Young Donegal athlete gets prized souvenir from bronze medallist Mageean

A young Donegal athlete’s weekend at the European Indoor Championships was made by Irish ace Ciara Mageean last Sunday.

Sarah Bradley, a student at Loreto Secondary School in Letterkenny, caught up with Mageean after she scooped a bronze medal in the 1,500m final at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow.

Sarah – an All-Ireland medal winner herself with Finn Valley AC – was already on a high after seeing Donegal athlete Mark English take bronze in the men’s 800m earlier on Sunday evening.

Mageean was only pipped to silver by Sofia Ennaoui of Poland in a race won by Scottish favourite Laura Muir.

After offering some words of encouragement, Mageean gave Sarah a hold of her medal and just to top it all off, she presented her with her name badge from the race.
