A massive monster of the sea has been washed up on the West coast of Donegal.

The huge Sperm Whale was found on Magheroarty Beach yesterday.

Members of the Donegal branch of the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group have measured the creature at a staggering 43 feet long.

They estimate that the whale has been dead for between 3 and 4 weeks and the animal is in bad condition.

A spokesman said “These animals are a very interesting species with the largest brain of any animal that ever lived on the planet. Feeding far offshore, continental shelf and beyond.

“Diving into depths over 1000mts to hunt its prey, predominantly the giant squid. They are the world’s largest toothed predator.”
