Final year students at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology are holding a clothes and toiletries collection day tomorrow (March 28) for the Saint Vincent de Paul (SVP) charity shop in Letterkenny.
The event will take place in the main foyer of the LyIT from 10am until 4.30pm.
Representatives from St Vincent de Paul will be there on the day to oversee the event.
Manager of the SVP charity shop in Letterkenny, Olga Hossack, has stated that there has been an increasing demand for male and female toiletries from their customers and that the charity is finding it difficult to meet this new demand.
Students at the LyIT have also developed a new Facebook page for the charity shop in Letterkenny that will be officially launched at the event.
The new Facebook platform will help the charity to reach out to a larger audience with the view to improving the services that the charity shop offers.
Olga Hossack said: “I am really impressed with the enthusiasm and the creative skills of the final year students who have organised this event, their understanding of social media and how it can benefit a local charity like ours has been really insightful.”
