Success for Donegal boxers at North West Zones finals

There was success for Donegal boxers today at the North West Zones for Boy 1, 2 and 3 punchers.

There was an entry of 66 boxers, 36 of them from 12 clubs in Derry and 30 representing 10 clubs in Donegal.

There were 19 contests today at the Rochesters club in Derry, nine semi-finals and ten finals.

The finals winners from Donegal clubs today were: Padraig McGonigle and Rory McDaid (Illies Golden Gloves); Luke Kelly (Dunfanaghy); Kelvin McDaid (St Bridget’s); Keelan Collins (Dunree); and Aaron McDaid (Raphoe).

There are eight finals left over for tomorrow night at 8pm, again at Rochesters.

The Ulster finals for these boxers will take place next Sunday, April 14, at the Shantallow Community Centre. Weigh-in from 9.30-10.30am with boxing getting underway at 12 noon.
